NEOC Millinocket Wedding

Jul

When Danielle asked me to shoot her NEOC wedding (New England Outdoor Center) in Millinocket, Maine… the stars aligned. I didn’t have her date available at first, but a month later, I found myself staring at a calendar with July 7th wide open… and emailing her as fast as my fingers could type. Everything about this day came together perfectly. Friends and family created the incredible DIY decor and signage. I watched as a new friend wove flowers in to the bride’s hair, while an old friend worked hard on his speech about the groom. The wife of a loved one delivered the most perfect ceremony, while the bride’s sister barely held it together for her reading (we love you, Jenna). The rain held off for their lakeside ceremony, overlooking Mt. Katahdin and everything was perfect. Congratulations, Dani and Rye!

I always ask brides to hang on to all the details (even the groom’s stuff) so I can photograph everything together. Don’t worry, I’ll deliver everything over to him safely before the ceremony 😉

Danielle got ready in a cabin, with old knotty wood and very light natural light. I love the dramatic effect of using a window for a glimmer of natural light in a dark room. Plus, she enjoyed an awesome view of the lake while she got ready!

Tying a tie becomes shockingly complicated when you try to do it on camera. No pressure, gentlemen!

Danielle’s dress was simple and romantic. It was perfect for her. Her organic bouquet of wildflowers perfectly completed her look.

THAT VIEW.

Oh my heart, Rye! I love this photo of you.

This was the moment we heard cheering and realized we had an audience from across the lake!

If you know this couple, you will understand how much I had to beg Danielle to be serious for literally one second for one photo. These two couldn’t stop laughing and apologizing for being awkward in front of the camera. Well, news flash, you definitely not awkward and all the goofing around was the best.

The maid of honor needs to open up an Etsy shop with these coasters, yes?

Wildflowers and summer weddings are a match made in heaven.

Congratulations, Dani and Rye!
